Venus unleashed!

It took some doing, but I finally tracked down the remaining two Demon Circles, which let me summon Venus.  Unfortunately for me, she was a good distance from where I found the last circle, so it was a bit of a trek to her enraged form.  Good thing I have the spell that reduces the number of random encounters (from very high to merely high, it feels like).

Her design is a bit racy, so I'll put it after the cut.

She has a bit of a genie theme as shown by the lamp. No, I don't know why that hand is about to grope her.
Ever since I've been able to use my summoned demons in their enraged form, the boss battles have gone a whole lot easier.  The fight was pretty easy, though Venus has these weird attacks and also used light attacks.  I guess the thinking is that Venus (the planet) looks very bright and white because of its atmosphere?

When I found a sword suspended in the air in the castle, I was told I'd need all 10 demon keys to be able to wield it.  Beating Venus means I've defeated seven out of ten, and then I'll probably face the Archangel Sol.

My typical demon key layout is Mars, Chronos, and Hermes.  Mars increases physical attack damage, Chronos reduces the damage my characters take, and Hermes increases my character's chances to hit and evade.  Mars in her enraged mode dishes out a whole lot of damage, so she's my go to summon for boss fights.

Because the weapon store clerk and the evil albino loli are going to fight, the inn's manager just gave me the demon key for Venus and told me to stop the fight.  It's supposed to take place in the very first area.  The last time I was just given a demon key was when the inn was attacked, so I'm guessing that something similar is going to happen.  I stopped there, but not before looking at Venus's abilities.  Her passive buff is that she increases the amount of gold and experience you receive from fights.  This would have been very helpful early on, but I'm getting diminishing returns from leveling.

Demon Gaze is a descendant of Wizardry, and it's worth mentioning that some of Wizardry's quirks have been carried through to this game.  In Wizardry, the chance to have an encounter was increased if you went through a door.  This was to simulate going into a room where monsters could be waiting.  However, leaving that room also means you're going through a door, so you could get hit coming and going.  Demon Gaze seems to have the same feature.

  1. "She has a bit of a genie theme as shown by the lamp. No, I don't know why that hand is about to grope her."Oh, yes you do.

If we must be charitable, perhaps it's intended to evoke rubbing the lamp?

As far as her passive buffs go, is there a new game+ in this?

    1. Okay, okay, I know why, I'd just like to pretend otherwise.

As far as I know, there isn't a New Game+. If you wanted to take a new character and level them quickly (I've found some good gear that I can't use because of classes, and some of the other classes have more useful abilities), Venus would be good for that. Venus could also be good if I made sure to use the encounter rate down ability in areas when I first go to them; I need the EXP to level my characters, but I also need to explore the area.
